Jussi Jaaskelainen has given Bolton Wanderers a huge boost ahead of next seasons UEFA Cup campaign with his agent Peter Harrison announcing that his client would see out the final year of his contract at the Reebok Stadium.

The 32-year old has reportedly turned down a new contract to stay with Bolton and this has lead to strong rumours linking Premiership rivals Sunderland and Aston Villa with a move for the Trotters current Player of the Year.

That said, Harrison told the Daily Express newspaper that Jaaskelainen will be at Bolton next season and will then make a decision on his long term future in twelve months from now.

"Jussi has decided that he is going to see out the final year of his contract and assess the situation after that. I've spoken to (manager) Sammy Lee and he is delighted." said Harrison

Jaaskelainen has remained an ever present for Bolton in the Premiership for the past two seasons and is a key component in the side which has established itself as a top flight force.

Bolton have already lost key defender Tal Ben-Haim to Chelsea this summer so news that Jaaskelainen will stay will come as a huge boost.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror reports that Bolton are one of three Premiership clubs chasing Charlton Athletic right back Luke Young for £3 million.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also beleived to be interested in luring the England international defender to the North of England.
