More clubs are already beginning to take an interest in Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen after the Finnish international rejected the Wanderers latest offer of a new contract late last week. Now Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is beleived to want to take the Trotters player of the year to Villa Park next season.

Jaaskelainen is already on the radar of Manchester United and Sunderland and it has been suggested that Bolton would want at least £4.5 million for the player whom they paid an initial £100,000 for just under ten years ago.

Villa are beleived to want a replacement for regular custodian Thomas Sorensen as the Dane enters the final year of his four year stay with the Midlands club.

A number of news reports claim an enquiry has already been submitted by Villa, but as yet neither of the clubs involved have commented on the issue.

If Jaaskelainen leaves the Reebok Stadium then Bolton boss Sammy Lee must either swoop for a new keeper or promote Ian Walker or Ali Al-Habsi to first choice.

The agent of Jaaskelainen, the infamous Peter Harrison, has already said that his client would be happy to remain at the Wanderers to see out his contract, but it remains to be seen if Bolton would once again let one of their prized assets leave for nothing as was the case when Tal Ben-Haim joined Chelsea last week after his Trotters deal expired.
