Four senior players have been told that their contracts will not be renewed by Bolton Wanderers this summer with long serving Henrik Pedersen the most high profile casualty on the unretained list.

Cesar Martin, David Thompson and the injury prone Quinton Fortune will also have to look for new clubs in the close season after being told there is no new deal on the table for them at the Reebok Stadium.

Striker turned full back Pedersen became one of Sam Allardyce's first Premiership signings when arriving from Danish club Silkeborg in the summer of 2001 and after a difficult first season in English football he finished his second and third seasons near the top of the Bolton goalscoring charts.

For the seasons that followed he became a reliable member of the team and even converted to an emergency left back in 2005 following an injury to Ricardo Gardner.

All in all the Danish international made 171 appearances for the club scoring 29 goals, the last coming in Wanderers 1-1 draw with relegated Charlton Athletic in January.

Experienced Spanish centre half Martin made just one appearance for Bolton following his post transfer deadline arrival from Levante in February. The former Deportivo La Coruna man came off the substitutes bench to play his part in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea last month.

Midfielder Thompson was one of Allardyce's last signings as Bolton manager and he was involved in most of the clubs remaining games last season starting against Wigan Athletic, Chelsea and West Ham United as well as a number of substitute appearances. The one time Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic battler went on to make a total of eight appearances during his short stay with the Trotters.

Injury plagued Fortune looked to get his career back on track with the Wanderers following his release by Manchester United last summer but after a promising start the South African made three failed comeback attempts with his last appearance coming in January's FA Cup tie at Doncaster Rovers.

Israeli Tal Ben-Haim is still to sign a new contract put to him as is the young Polish defender Blazej Augustyn.
