Blackburn Rovers seem to have successfully hijacked David Dunn's move to Bolton Wanderers after Birmingham City accepted a third and final Rovers offer last night. Dunn seemed all set to join the Wanderers after passing medical tests and even Birmingham manager Steve Bruce seemed convinced that the one time England cap was on his way to the Reebok Stadium in a £2,200,000 deal.

However, Rovers seemed determined to land their former favourite and Rovers chairman John Williams says that the club are undergoing the neccessary proceedures today.

"We've got permission to speak to David Dunn and we are now going through the normal procedures regarding a medical and personal terms" said Williams.

The whole situation has proved to be farcical from start to finish, with the deal initially being held up as Wanderers could not get the equiptment to provide a medical scan over the weekend.

Once Blackburn came into the reckoning there was only ever going to be one club winning the race for the player who grew up watching his boyhood idols on the terraces at Ewood Park.
