Kevin Davies is hoping that his long term future with Bolton Wanderers can be sorted out sooner rather than later following his two goal showing against West Ham United at the weekend. The Sheffield-born front man netted a brace against the Hammers and immediately expressed a desire to prolong his three-year stay at the Reebok Stadium beyond next summer.

Davies has been linked with clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in recent weeks but his preference is to remain a Wanderers player for the foreseeable future. He is confident that both parties can agree on a new deal and wants his future sorting by the New Year.

"I'm confident it's going to be resolved, hopefully before January, to stop any more speculation, It's not something I'm really thinking about. I've told the people who are involved that I want to stay here." said the ex-Blackburn forward

"I think they are still discussing it, but everyone knows I'm more than happy here at the club and, hopefully, we can get it sorted soon and put it to bed."

Signed from Southampton in the summer of 2003, Davies has made well over 100 appearances during his time with the Wanderers and has become a pivitol figure in the side which has acheived three top ten finishes in as many seasons.
