Bolton Wanderers reserves started their Manchester Senior Cup campaign with a defeat last night as Manchester United won the fixture at the County Ground by a singular goal.
Last week the Wanderers crashed to a heavy defeat against the Red Devils in the FA Premier Reserve league game at Ewen Fields but this contest proved to be a much more even affair.
Fabien Brandy got the all important matchwinning goal for United with eighteen minutes remaining on the clock after midfielder Richie Jones saw his goalbound header cannon back off the Bolton crossbar.
A trip to Boundary Park to face Oldham Athletic on 25 October now awaits Bolton in the next stage of this competition.
