Bolton Linked With Ex-Boro Veteran

Veteran Brazilian midfielder Doriva is being linked with three Premiership clubs following his release by Middlesbrough at the end of last season. The 34-year old defensive midfielder is of interest to Bolton, Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth according to reports in this morning's Daily Mail and as he was a free agent before last month's transfer window had passed he will be able to move clubs immediately.

It seems highly unlikely that the Wanderers will firm up any definate interest in the South American player though as they already have an abundance of cover in the holding midfield role with Ivan Campo, Abdoulaye Faye, Andranik Teimourian and Jarostaw Fojut all able to play in that position.

Doriva came to England in February 2003 following a spell at Spanish club Celta Vigo and he was part of the Middlesbrough team to defeat Bolton in the final of the Carling Cup some twelve months later.
