Bolton Suffer Stelios Injury Blow

Stelios Giannakopoulos will be missing for most of the September matches after picking up a groin injury whilst on international duty with Greece. The 32-year old picked up the injury during a training session prior to the Greek's 1-0 win over Moldova and he is now expected to miss the Bolton games against Watford, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.

Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce was understandably disappointed at losing one of his most influential players for such a large number of matches.

"Stelios picked up a problem in Greece which will unfortunately keep him out for the best part of three weeks. It is a deep-lying injury which needs rest to enable it to settle down and allow Stelios to recover.

"It is a big disappointment for us because he was our leading goalscorer in the Premiership last season and he will be missed"
