Wanderers Scrap Mares Move

Czech Republic left back Pavel Mares will not be signing for Bolton Wanderers and will now return to his club Zenit St Petersburg. The experienced defender looked all set to make the move to English football before the closure of the transfer window tonight but Bolton have since decided against furthering their interest in the player after a round of talks.

Mares 30, had previously played football in his native country with Sparta Prague and was looking to get back playing on a more regular basis after a time in the wilderness at Zenit.

Bolton will now switch their attentions elsewhere for the remaining hours of the transfer deadline.
