Jussi Jaaskelainen has said that his Bolton team mate Kevin Davies is a dead cert for an England call-up if he can manage to get himself on the scoresheet more often.
The Finnish goalkeeper beleives that the bustling forward could force his way into the thinking of national boss Steve McClaren on a regular basis if he can improve on his ratio in front of goal which has so far been less prolific despite a number of good performances.
Since his move from Southampton in the summer of 2003, the hard working Davies has always just fallen short of reaching double figures for the season but Jaaskelainen is of the opinion that the 29-year old deserves a call-up sooner rather than later.
"If he can get lucky and score a few more goals, I see him not being far from the England squad because his work rate, his out-of-the-box game, is absolutely brilliant." said Jaaskelainen to the Bolton Evening News
Davies is struggling to be fit for the Wanderers league opener against Tottenham Hotspur seven days from now after sitting out most of the pre-season matches with an ankle problem.
