Bolton Decide Against Perez Signing

Spanish midfielder Alex Perez will head back to his homeland after failing to convince Bolton Wanderers that he is worthy of a Premiership contract. The 21-year old has been with the Trotters for the past two weeks and even played in the pre-season games against Derby County and Recreativo Huelva but manager Sam Allardyce says that the former Real Madrid reserve will not be able to make an impact in England's top flight.

"Even though he has been at Real Madrid for the past five years, he hasn't reach the standard were are looking for in the Premiership." said Allardyce

Perez joined the Madrid ranks in 2003 and trained alongside former Wanderer Fernando Hierro but ultimately he wasn't able to make a breakthrough into the first team at the Bernabeu. In season 2005-2006 he spent time with Gimnastic and helped them gain promotion to La Liga.
