O'LEARY ADMITS TRANFER WINDOW FRUSTRATION

Aston Villa boss David O'Leary has admitted that there will be no comings or goings at Villa Park during this month's transfer window. The news will certainly come as a blow to all Villa fans, especially as hopes had been raised about a big-money new-year takeover.

Although the Comer brothers, the financial force behind the proposed takeover, have not given up hope of buying Doug Ellis' shares in the club, the takeover is starting to look less likely by the day.

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the situation, Villa chairman Doug Ellis is unwilling to plough more money into the club, meaning O'Leary will have to make do with what he has got for the rest of the season.

"As the chairman has stated," O'Leary started, "there will be nobody coming into this club, financially or probably loan-wise. So there's no activity for us in this window.

"I can't believe I hear all these rumours when the chairman has said, and it's been stated in all the papers, that nothing will be happening at this club."

The rather deflated Villa boss continued, "We keep getting all this speculation but I don't think we can make it any clearer.

"I've got to get on with it and accept anything. When you work for whatever chairman, he's the boss and you go along with what he has to say.

"He said what he has to say and we move on now."

O'Leary also claimed that it is unlikely that the club will sell any players during the window.

Referring to Lee Hendrie and Ulises De la Cruz, he said, "We hear rumours in the papers but nobody rings me up. People ask me about pure speculation.

"For those two people, nobody has come in and asked me about them."
