Aston Villa survived a major first half scare at the Causeway Stadium before running riot in the final 45 minutes. After a shocking first half, Villa went in 3-1 down at the interval. However, they replied in perfect fashion by smashing 7 second half goals past a stunned Wycombe Wanderers.
It was the home team who drew first blood in the match as Nathan Tyson met Senda's right-wing cross and powered a header past Thomas Sorensen after only 6 minutes.
Aston Villa replied immediately with Baros forcing a save from Talia in the Wycombe goal on 9 minutes and Milner driving the ball inches wide of the post from the resulting corner.
Villa did manage to grab an equaliser after 14 minutes of the match as Baros raced down the wing before cutting the ball back to Davis who finished the move neatly.
The game took another twist two minutes later as Wycombe regained the lead on 16 minutes. Johnson rose above the Villa defence before heading a second past Sorensen in the Villa goal.
The home side continued to dominate proceedings and went 3-1 ahead when veteran striker Tommy Mooney scored Wycombe's third headed goal of the evening. Oakes was provider yet again as his left wing cross was met by Mooney's unstoppable close-range header.
Mooney almost killed the game off just two minutes into the second half as he raced through on the Villa goal yet again. However, when composure was needed, Mooney lost control and fired the ball high into the stand behind the goal.
Milan Baros got The Villans back into the tie after 48 minutes as he scored his second goal for his new club. Aaron Hughes raced down the right-wing before putting in a low cross which Baros cooly converted.
James Milner got Villa back on level terms after 64 minutes as he scored his second goal in as many games. The on-loan midfielder found space on the edge of the box and fired the ball passed a helpless Talia.
The floodgates then opened as Wycombe defender Easton gifted Villa the lead after 69 minutes. After good work from Berger down the flank, Easton mis-directed his clearance and slipped the ball into his own net.
Gareth Barry made it 5-3 just 3 minutes later as he converted a penalty which was won by Baros, and the same player scored his second just minutes later as Baros turned provider yet again.
James Milner scored number seven for Villa with three minutes remaining as he rounded off an impressive team move before Davis capped the comeback in stoppage time as he fired the eighth from close range.
