Aston Villa have confirmed that they have received a 'preliminary approach' from a mystery consortium to buy the club. Reports over the weekend had suggested that a Russian consortium is planning a £60m bid to take over at Villa Park.
Although there hasn't been an official offer as yet, a Villa statement confirmed that there have been early talks.
An Aston Villa statement on the stock exchange read, "The board has received a preliminary approach which could lead to an offer for the club. Shareholders will be updated of any further developments."
