There are reports this morning Newco Rangers may be granted a temporary licence to allow them to take on Brechin on Sunday in the Ramsdens cup.

After a week of wrangling over Rangers request for an SFA licence it looks as though a permanent agreement won’t be reached before the weekend, and as a result they will be granted a temporary licence to take on Brechin on Sunday.

Once again this leaves me astonished, although I shouldn’t be surprised with anything that happens in this whole saga. I can’t understand why the game isn’t cancelled (as the Kelty Hearts game was on Wednesday) and Brechin given a bye into the second round.

Now the cynical amongst us will say the game is only going ahead because Brechin have sold outGlebeParkand the game is on BBC Alba.

I have said throughout this whole sorry saga that all I want to see is newco Rangers treated the same as any other club would be, and again it doesn’t look as through consistency is being applied.

If this had beenEast Fifetaking on Brechin at the weekend would they be granted a temporary licence, I don’t think so!!

Once again we are seeing the football authorities inScotlandletting us down and appearing to make up the rules as they go along.
