Celtic kept their unbeaten SPL run going with an emphatic win over Hearts at Tynecastle last night, in a game tinged with controversy.

The opening couple of minutes were crammed with incident and not a little controversy. It looked as though Stephen Elliot’s close range header had given the home side the lead but the ref and his assistant didn’t award a goal even though at first viewing on TV it looked well over the line.

This even fooled the PA announcer who had the celebration playing, and barely had time to yank it off before Celtic scored at the other end. You can give the officials some benefit of the doubt here, the assistant’s view was blocked by two Celtic players on the line. Having said that, Willie Collum had a great view and could’ve had the bottle to award the goal but he didn’t.

Brown latched on to poor touch from Samaras to drill home from about 12 yards out. He then “did the Broonie” in front of the Hearts fans in both the stand behind the goal and then the Main Stand. Hopefully this will have been reported to the Compliance Officer.

Celtic then took over and completely demolished Hearts in a ruthless, professional fashion. They were two up by half time thanks to goals from Wanyama and then Joe Ledley. Gary Hooper added his customary goal in the second half to put the seal on the win and move Celtic back to four points clear of troubled Rangers.

This was a performance of Champions with Celtic brushing aside one of the best of the rest with ease.
