Motherwell have today announced Estonian striker Henrik Ojamaa has agreed a two and a half year deal after impressing in his early games for the club.

The 20 year old Estonian played a couple of trial games for Motherwell in December and as a result was offered a low cost deal to allow him to have a longer look at the club and vice versa.

He was to prove an instant hit, coming on as a sub against Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup and scoring the fourth goal on the day. He claims not to be a goal scorer but is more of a provider, but three more goals in his net four appearances would seem to indicate otherwise.

He opened the scoring in the win overDunfermline10 days ago, before scoring another two in his next match against St. Johnstone at the weekend. To date that is three goals in only two starts, while overall he has made three additional appearances as a sub to make it a total of four in five outings.

There were jokes with Stuart McCall after last week’s win over St. Johnstone that he could struggle to hold on to him before the transfer window closed on Tuesday.

The club seemed to recognise quickly what kind of asset they had been lucky to have picked as he quickly became a hero of the fans. This is not only down to his goal scoring but his goal scoring celebration, which is similar to Robbie Keane’s pistol firing.

Time will tell if Motherwell haven’t been a bit hasty in extending the Estonian’s stay, or if they have truly discovered another gold nugget who can be sold on at some time in the future.
