Hibs dropped to only one point ahead of Dunfermline at the bottom of the table after their latest home defeat to St. Johnstone.

TheEdinburghside had been behind twice in the game and hauled themselves back level but a late Sandaza goal gave the Perth Saints the win, and with Dunfermline beatingKilmarnock3-0 there is now only a point between the two sides.

Dunfermlinehave a game in hand against Motherwell on Tuesday and they know if the can win again they will move above Hibs by one point.

Despite all the changes at Easter Rd their results have not improved, in fact if they had not managed to beatDunfermlinelast week they would already be bottom of the table.

That is the only League win new Manager Pat Fenlon has recorded since taking over from the much maligned Colin Calderwood. The new manager has already started to clear out the players he doesn’t want, and bringing in a couple of players of his own but still the slide continues.

There seems to be a state of denial at Easter Rd about their current position, but if they continue to lose close to two goals per game, meaning they need to score three to win any game!

The side does have good players going forward, most other SPL teams would love to have Sproule, O’Connor or Griffiths in their squads, but they are obviously fragile at the back. This does make the signing of a couple of strikers so far in January a surprise, when it would appear the need for a centre back or defensive midfielder would appear to be a greater need.

The Board have now put all their eggs in the Fenlon basket having got rid of Calderwood, and only time will tell is he can get a response from the Hibs players to get them out of the trouble they are currently in.
