Calderwood and Adams

Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has started a clear out at Easer Rd after a season of under achievement for Hibs.

Those confirmed to be heading out are; John Rankin and striker Colin Nish along with Steven Thicot, Kevin McBride, Kevin McCann, Valdas Trakys, Thomas Flynn, Kurtis Byrne and Ewan Moyes.

Loan signing Darryl Duffy will return to Bristol Rovers on completion of his season-long loan deal.

Keeper Graeme Smith has already left the club and top scorer Derek Riordan's future is still to be settled, while decisons are pending on Graham Stack, Liam Miller, Lewis Stevenson and Ricardo Vaz Te.

There is no doubt this change had to come, after a stuttering start to the season under John Hughes and then a relegation saving mini recovery under Calderwood.

Hibs are safely entrenched in the bottom six and were knocked out of the Cups early in what is as poor a season as they have had since being promoted back in the late 90s.

The challenge for Calderwood, of course, is what can he bring in? Martin Scott and Sodje have already been brought in, but again you can argue these are not the type of signings to set the hearts racing in Leith.

They have also been linked with Jamie Hammill of Kilmarnock, again another that won’t have the hearts beating quickly.

Calderwood will have no excuses next season as his side will be his and Derek Adams.
