Lafferty celebrates

Rangers moved back to the top of the League, for at least 24 hours, with a 2-0 win in the 6pm kick off with St. Johnstone tonight.

Kyle Lafferty opened the scoring for Rangers just on 20 minutes when he capitalised on a poor headed pass back from Danny Grainger. This was a bit of a blow for the home side as they had started the game brightly.

Saints tricky pitch made sure this was never going to be a classic, and much of the play was dictated by the surface and a swirling wind.

In the second half Murray Davidson had a great chance to equalise, for a Wylde error he had a chance from five yards out but all he did was pull out a great save from Alan McGregor.

They were punished for this when Rangers scored a second, Naismith combined with Jelavic at the edge of the box and the former Killie man left Enkelman helpless with a left foot strike.

Rangers saw the rest of the game out easily enough, and put the pressure on Celtic who take on Hibs at Celtic Park.

They also show no signs of the ongoing takeover talk distract them from their goal of making it three in a row in the League.

All we seem to hear of this takeover at the moment is that talks are ongoing and the deal will be complete in 48 hours, this has been the longest 48 hours I have lived through!!
