Hibs slumped to their tenth game without a win at Fir Park this afternoon and now sit at second bottom of the table, only three points above Hamilton.
Based upon this afternoon’s shambolic performance at Fir Park there is drastic action required at Easter Rd.
The Manager – he doesn’t appear to know what his best 11 is and what he should stick with. He appears to be operating the goalkeeper position by rotation, Graeme Smith was culpable for both goals this afternoon. Why change this key position when you are in the mire, this would have been a position that should have been left alone.
There were four other changes in the side this afternoon from the defeat to Ayr, with top scorer Derek Riordan dropped to the bench. Young players are getting thrown in and left to drown, Hanlon and Booth performed well today but need more committed players around them.
The Board – many look at the amount of money Hibs have brought in through the sales of Scott Brown, Riordan, Fletcher, O’Connor, Whittaker, Murray etc etc. While it is fine to re-invest in bricks and mortar, such as the training ground and new Stand, but fans want to see success on the pitch…
Do they have the will to come out and give Calderwood some cash to invest or will they let him see it out until the summer and let him re-shape the side then.
The Players – there seem to be so many of the players who either don’t understand the situation the club is in, or just don’t care. There is no doubt they are under performing and should be much higher up the table than 11th!
Do they have the bottle to dig in and hold off St. Mirren or Hamilton to avoid what seems to be the Armageddon of dropping into the First Division before it becomes SPL 2!
