Five Cup ties fail to beat the snow

The overnight snow has put an end to four Cup ties this afternoon, with one third ro. und tie at Threave still to go ahead, and one tie tomorrow already called off

Heavy overnight snow has forced three of the Fourth Round ties to be called off;

Queen of the South v Brechin City, Greenock Morton v Airdrie United and Falkirk v Partick Thistle are all OFF

This is tough for Airdrie who had to wait until earlier this week to finally see off Beith Juniors in an exciting third round tie and only builds up a fixture back log for them.

The third round replay between Threave Rovers and Stenhousemuir is also OFF for the umpteenth time, they will try again on Tuesday! This cancellation sees Stranraer make it into the Fifth Round draw!

The game between Hearts and St. Johnstone tomorrow at Tynecastle has already been called off due to the surrounding area around the ground.

At the moment there is no news of any inspections ahead of tomorrow’s games at Dundee and Berwick Rangers. Although Dundee fans have been asked along to Dens Park today to help sweep snow from the Derry Stand to ensure it can open for tomorrow’s tie with Motherwell.

Once again some of this does make a bit of a mockery of the need for “adequate pitch protection” with two of the games off being played at grounds with Undersoil heating!!
