Miller celebrates

It looks as though January could be a busy at Ibrox with one player heading out, one coming in and a new owner in the pipeline.

The player going out would appear to be Kenny Miller, with Rangers having accepted a £700k bid from Birmingham this afternoon. Miller, who is out of contract in the summer, only has to agree personal terms with the St. Andrews club.

Walter Smith has repeatedly said it will take a departure before there are any arrivals at Ibrox. It looks as though the man they are after is Dundee United striker David Goodwillie.

It has been reported Rangers have made a verbal offer for the Scotland Under 21 striker, but it is only about half the valuation United have for the player. United are looking for £1.5 million for their prize asset and look to be prepared to hold out for this amount.

It may take new money from prospective new owner Craig Whyte to help fund the move to help match this money.

Whyte is hopeful his £33 million pound bid will go through this month, although he had previously hoped to complete in December but the due diligence has taken longer than anticipated.

However, if Whyte can conclude a deal soon, he hopes to be able to help Rangers manager Walter Smith strengthen his squad.
