Dundee failed to overturn their 25 point deduction when their appeal was heard by the SFL at Hampden yesterday.

Dundee were given the punishment when they went into administration (for the second time) earlier this season.

Administrator Brian Jackson of PKF has decided to appeal the decision against the points decision to the SFA. He has also been impressed with the way the Dundee fans ad public have rallied round ad despite missing a number of games recently he believes they will be out of administration by the middle of January.

The major debate has been around the level of punishment itself, given the SFL has no set punishment for going into administration, with each occasion being treated on its own merit.

Gretna and Livingston were both relegated as a result of going into administration, a move which effectively ended Gretna’s short stay in the senior game.

This is not an option in mid-season therefore I think the 25 point deduction is heavy enough, and it looks as though on their current form this will not see them relegated.

I hope the authorities stay strong and jeep the punishment at it’s current level, particularly for a club who have twice used administration to ease their financial worries.
