There have been a number of early call offs for the games planned this Saturday, across all four divisions.
The SPL has lost Dundee Utd v Motherwell and Celtic v Kilmarnock due to police advice. They are concerned with the surrounds at both grounds with snow and ice still affecting roads and pavements.
Also in doubt is Hamilton v Hibs with the Accies pitch under 12 inches of snow and having had problems with running their undersoil heating thanks to a lack of fuel.
The SPL has called the call offs “hasty”, this is the same organisation who called games off as early as Wednesday last week. The situation was the same last week, with pitches playable and surrounds iced over.
Therefore they can’t have it both ways, and the authorities would appear to have called this one right this week.
In the SPL there are seven games off, and I am sure there will be more! The games off to date are;
Scottish First Division
Cowdenbeath v Falkirk
Stirling Albion v Raith Rovers
Scottish Second Division
Airdrie United v Dumbarton
Forfar Athletic v Alloa Athletic
Livingston v Ayr United
Scottish Third Division
Albion Rovers v Arbroath
East Stirlingshire v Queen's Park
