An eventful week has ended with both of today’s planned SPL games being cancelled. This has been a week Scottish Football will want to forget…

The week started with the news the Grade 1 referees were about to withdraw their labour for the games at the weekend.

This sparked a frenzy of negotiations with the SFA but the refs stuck to their guns forcing the SFA to find ref from elsewhere…

We had Polish and Portuguese refs doing the hokey cokey as they came in and then went out again!

This say all of the SFL card wiped out, and two Cup replays cancelled allowing the six SPL games and the ALBA challenge to go ahead. A situation which obviously, and correctly had the smaller clubs up in arms!

Before we got to the games that were left on Saturday there was more news from the SFA with Hugh Dallas sacked for his part in passing on an email about the Pope.

Things couldn’t get any worse surely…..

Saturday passed without incident with all four scheduled SPL games passing off with no real flash points.

Celtic did manage to throw away a two goal lead to draw at home with away specialists Inverness CT who have not lost away in just over a year now.

Two games ended 0-0, Hamilton at home to St. Mirren and St. Johnstone away to Hibs in a game that could have been played without goalkeepers!

The fourth game saw Mark McGhee’s Aberdeen beaten again, this time to two goals to nil by Kilmarnock. The Dons are now bottom equal and only kept out of 12^th on goal difference. What next for McGhee.

Then came Sunday and the two remaining games are called off thanks to the weather – leaving ESPN and Sky with no SPL coverage this weekend!
