Lennon sent to the Stand

The Old Firm both lost tonight with Hibs bouncing back from derby defeat to win at Ibrox, and Hearts seeing off the other half at home. There were also wins for Motherwell, St. Mirren and Kilmarnock.

Rangers 0 Hibs 3

Rangers suffered their first defeat of the season as Hibernian claimed their first points under new boss Colin Calderwood with an emphatic away victory over against League Leaders at Ibrox.

Liam Miller's swerving shot took goalkeeper Allan McGregor by surprise and ended in the net to give the visitors a sixth-minute lead.

And John Rankin's stunning right-foot strike put Hibs two up on 19 minutes.

Goalkeeper Mark Brown preserved Hibs' advantage with a string of saves and Francis Dickoh lashed in a late third from Bamba knock down following a Rankine corner.

Hearts 2 Celtic 0

Hearts recorded only their second home league win this season, beating Celtic who had to play 35 minutes with 10 men.

The Edinburgh side had the better of the first half, hitting the bar before Ian Black's 30 yard shot deflected in off Daniel Majstorovic on 29 minutes.

Celtic's Joe Ledley was sent off for a two footed lunge on the Hearts scorer on 56 minutes.

Two minutes later David Templeton notched a fine second, finishing past Fraser Forster in Celtic's goal after a fantastic pass from Rudi Skacel.

To top it all off for Celtic Neil Lennon was also shown a red card and sent to the Stand by ref Craig Thomson.

Motherwell 4 St. Johnstone 0.

A first half hat trick from on loan striker Nick Blackman helped seal victory for Motherwell at home to St. Johnstone.

The first came in 12 minutes, Jamie Murphy was released by Tom Hateley and his cut back from the bye line set up a tap in for Blackman.

The second on 24 minutes was set up by the pact of Chris Humphrey and this time it took two attempts for Blackman to steer the ball past Enckelman.

The third came in first half stoppage time, a Hammell free kick was headed on by Craigan into the path of Blackman. He was denied firstly by Enckelman before reacting to prod the ball over the line.

Motherwell controlled the second half before sealing the game with a Sutton strike from fifteen yards with five minutes left.

Kilmarnock 3 Hamilton 0

Kilmarnock continued their impressive run of form when they made it three consecutive 3-0 wins with this win over Hamilton. Conor Sammon was the two goal hero for Killie once again.

Teenage full-back Ben Gordon curled a wonderful strike into the top corner after 34 minutes.

Sammon home cracked in a volley early in the second half as Hamilton failed to clear their lines then he powered in a firm header on 52 minutes.

Dundee Utd 1 St. Mirren 2

Michael Higdon struck twice as St Mirren moved off the bottom of the Scottish Premier League with a win against a lacklustre Dundee United.

Gareth Wardlaw and Sean Lynch both missed with close range headers in the first half but Higdon fired the visitors ahead with an angled strike.

With 65 minutes gone, Higdon finished off a swift counter-attack with a fine volley from a Paul McGowan delivery.

Prince Buaben fired in a late free kick but United could not find a leveller.

Hopefully these results show the Old Firm can be beaten, and that maybe Motherwell or Hearts can get a bit closer and start to put some pressure on the Big Two at the top…..

They also make you want to ask how can Hibs go from the flops of Sunday to a 3-0 win at Ibrox – is it as simple as no Derek Riordan???
