The Saddlers will new acquaintances with Stoke City in the FA Cup 4th Round . Our Clayhead freinds managed to beat Tamworth on penalties.

^{Back in 2000/2001 these two clubs met each other an astonishing 5 times in 8 months. A combination of routine League Fixtures, An LDV Vans game and two play off Semi Finals contributed to the development of what was at the time a prominent rivalry from a Walsall point of view.}

^{We have met in the Cup once before, back in 1966 the Saddlers beat Stoke 2-0 at the old Victoria Ground.} 

^{Our last meeting ended in the 3-2 defeat at the Britannia Stadium, a game that saw Walsall keeper Andy Petterson have a complete Mare. Jorge Leitao and Kris Taylor got our goals in a 3-2 defeat that day.  From the Saddlers squad that game - only Merson, Wrack, Wright and Kris Taylor are still with the Club, although, only Mark Wright is likely to feature in our next meeting.}
