Just look over to the continent and you have Gazzetta de la Sport and Le Equipe. For some reason – these kind of papers have never took off in the UK. You get the local Pink or Green after the game on a Saturday but it isn't quite the same.

British Football Weekly isn’t a bad effort. Published just once a week it does it’s best to cover the British Footballing Spectrum. Okay, so the Premiership and Old Firm do get more than there fair share - but it's not as bad as you find in your average daily paper.

It’s not overly controversial and the distinct absence of vendettas against certain clubs and players makes it a pleasant read.

If you’re buying it for club specific news then you'll feel a bit let down. Anyone who buys a local paper or checks the news on the World Wide Web will find “old news” – but if you want the wider picture then BFW is a paper you’ll enjoy reading.

The amount of advertising isn't over the top There aren't that many full page adds and most of them are subtle, effective and of interest to Football Fans.

At £1.65 it is a bit expensive, but if you a buy a daily paper 7 days are week then the cost of a comprehensive "Football Specific Newspaper" once a week goes some way to justifying it's price.

You won't find big name columnist. It doesn't have any "big name journalists", but it is a good, steady, middle of road sporting paper and one of the best of it's kind.
