Former midfield hardman "Psycho" Johnny Keister is heading across the Atlantic to look for a Club in the USA.

Psycho John made well over 100 appearances  before being released in January 2000. His liking for a rough tackle and odd midfield ruck endeared him to the Walsall fans. 

The fact he was usually the smallest man on the pitch didn't stop him from getting involved in the odd bit of argy-bargy (he was usually the cause).

The 98-99 season should have been his season to shine, but a bad injury just 3 games in put him out of action for the rest of the campaign. He'd made a good impression with new boss Ray Graydon but saw the likes of Wayne Thomas, Dean Keates, Bjarni Larusson and Gary Porter all jump ahead of him in the queue. 

By the time he regained his fitness we were playing Championship Football and he struggled to get in to the side. He went on to have spells with Shrewsbury and Chester before settling at Margate. It wasn't all plain sailing with Margate, they've had a tough time of late suffering a series of relegations.

Keister, who turns 35 in November is now heading over the Atlantic to find himself a Club in the USA. We'll do our best to keep you posted on how he fairs Stateside.

Everyone has their favourite Keister memory, and the vast majority of Saddlers would love to see him make a go of things in America. Good Luck John.
