Physio Jon Whitney and former midfielder Wayne Thomas were the class acts in this afternoons charity match in aid of the Manor Hospitals Baby Unit.

Notable names on show included 

Mad Dogs - Keates (Midfield), O' Connor (Midfield),  Rammell (Defence), Whitney (Defence) 

Old Dogs -  Ron Green (Goalkeeper), Colin Harrison, Richard Green, Stuart Watkiss, Dean Smith (Defence) Micky Halsall, Wayne Thomas, Craig Shakespere (Midfield) Don Goodman and Mark Rees (Forwards). 

The game finished 5-4 to the old dogs thanks to a Wayne Thomas Hat Trick, a great solo goal from Mark Rees and a diving header from Don Goodman. Thomas could have scored 6 or 7 having hit the bar 3 times and choosing to set up fellow team mates instead of adding to his own personal tally. 

The 27 year old Thomas was the games class act. His neat passing and incisive runs pulled the opposition midfield all over the place.   Jon Whitney was the oppositions star man. His energetic bursts from Left Back made Zigor Aranalde look like a granny on a Zimmer frame. 

What about the Marshy step over? He did it 40 seconds in to the game.

Darren Byfield, Tom Bennett and David Kelly were just three of the listed names who didn't play, but their absence was overshadowed by the entertaining game the lads managed to put on.
