So what now?

Baring a form change we will not make the play-offs. Baring a dive we will not go down. So what now? Think back over the seasons and a fair few Walsall manages have used "dead games" to blood youngsters and take a look at the season to come.

The debuts of Clive Platt and Michael Ricketts under Sorenson signaled the arrival of two strikers who would go on to make a fairly good living out of the game.
Paul Merson has handed a group of players their first professional contracts, so how about giving them a chance? Leroy Williams and Daryl Taylor have been in and out of the squad all season. Nathan Jamerson and Taiwo Atieno have done a fair bit of bench warming. Do we know if any of these four can go on and do what Platt and Ricketts have done.

Then there are the current Youth Team players who Merson might consider taking on next season. The names Platt, Harkness, Perry, Wheeler, Deakin and McDermott may be familiar to most fans. They have played a fair few Reserve game over the last 12 months. A few of them are still eligible for the Youth Team but why not see how they react in a first team situation.

If any of these players show any type of aptitude during April then they are surely worth a contract. Those that don't look like they will go any further can be released. April could also be a good month for the existing Young Professionals. Is Taiwo Atieno really not good enough for Chester and Rochdale? Can Nathan Jamerson stamp his authority on a League One fixture in the same way he has been doing down at Bromsgrove.

We have plenty of questions about the Bescot Babes. How about some answers during April....
