CASH BID FOR BIRCH REJECTED

THESADDLERSFC HAS BEEN RELIABLY INFORMED THAT THE SADDLERS TURNED DOWN A CASH BID FOR BIRCH ON DEADLINE DAY.

Just how much the fee was is unclear, but we believe it was in the region of £50,000. However,  the Saddlers were only willing to loan him out. Who can blame them, a good run of goal scoring form would increase the players value on the transfer market.

Our sources say that Risdale and Hart are keen to recruit Birch on a permanent basis, and will make another move for him in the summer - when he is out of contract.

Should Barnsley make their expected move, the Saddlers will be entitled to a fee. Birch is a home grown talent who is under 24, meaning we have the right to a transfer fee.  If the two parties are unable to agree a deal, then a tribunal will set the fee.
