The Football League today announced that it has agreed a 3-year sponsorship deal with Cola-Cola, ending its current deal with Nationwide. Coca-Cola will begin to sponsor Divisions One, Two and Three from the start of the 2004/05 season, ending the League's 3-year association with current sponsors Nationwide.

First Division clubs will get almost 60% of the £15 million deal, with the remaining money shared between the remaining 2 divisions.

The Football League have been looking at ways to make the competition a more attractive alternative to the Premier League, and League chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney believes this new deal will benefit the compeition's 72 clubs.

He told BBC Football: "This new agreement is good news and provides a tremendous boost for League clubs. It'll contribute significantly to the proposed re-branding of the League."
