Paul Ritchie has been talking to the media while on International duty with Scotland.

 His comments about next season are disappointing, but not unexpected. 

"They have offered me a contract but I'm not being disrespectful to Walsall when I say I still want to play at the highest level.

"If the owner starts to give the manager money to improve his squad - because we were at a stage at Christmas when we were four points off the play-offs - then I might stay. But it's not my ideal home."

We have been in this position before, with good players looking to move on because the board are unable to invest in the team and take it forward.

After his performances for us so far this season it is doubtful that any Saddlers fan would begrudge Paul Ritchie the chance to play at a higher level.
