News of the Reserves, Paul Ritchie, Matt Carbon, Pedro Matias, Matty Fryatt and the new poll for the rest of this week.
The Walsall reserves went down 1-0 at home to Burnley. Rhys Carpenter got the winner with just minutes of the game left The Walsall line up was as follows. Walsall - Coleman, Willetts, Carbon, Kris Taylor, Harkness; Lawrence, Oakes, Carney (Taylor), Wright, Hawley (Atieno), Matias. Subs Platt, Jameson, Dann.
Pedro Matias is in contention for a spot on the bench on Saturday. His return will increase our limited options in the attacking areas of the pitch.
The fitness of defender Matt Carbon is improving. The player came through 90 minutes of the reserve game against Burnley. Carbon is the only real back up we have for Ritchie and Roper. His progress will be a boost for Colin Lee.
Paul Ritchie is sure to be fit in time for the Coventry game on Saturday. It was feared that Ritchie had a serious injury following a two footed tackle by Koumas in Fridays derby at the Hawthorns.
Youngster Matty Fryatt is back from Carlisle. Fryatt enjoyed a successful loan spell, and Cumbrians boss Paul Simpson is keen to take him on again. Fryatt is currently suffering from an Achilles injury, which is almost certain to deny him the chance of a first team spot this weekend. Fryatt is the focus of this weeks poll.
