On loan midfielder Gary O’Neil has been recalled by Pompey boss Harry Redknapp. At one stage yesterday conflicting reports suggested he was both staying and going. After initially signing an extension to his current loan deal he was recalled by Pompey following an injury scare with wing back Matthew Taylor.

O’Neil could return once the injury problems at Fratton Park have cleared up, but he will soon be jetting off to represent the England Under 20’s. The World Youth Championships start on November 29th, meaning neither club will be able to make use of his services for the best part of the month should England progress.

This saga has plenty time to develop. We would certainly have him back should the opportunity arise. Watch this space as they say.
