www.saddlers.co.uk reports the new pitch is coming along nicely. The surface put down just after Christmas has now gone, and the ground staff have started from scratch. 

Chief Grounds man Paul Mason is pleased with the progress being made, which will be a relief after his disastrous first season in charge of the Bescot surface.  

It cost the club approximately £100,000 to replace the sand and mud based surface the team were playing on in February. 

Chelsea have also started from scratch at Stamford Bridge, and experts working on the pitch could not rule out the possibility of a new surface needing to be laid at some time during next season. 

If Chelsea can push the boat out on their surface, and be concerned about the pitch not lasting, should we be so confident?
