Martin O'Connor could well be in line for a player-coach role elsewhere if not awarded a new contract by the Saddlers.

IC Birmingham have suggested that
Martin O'Connor could be in line for a player-coach role with a conference
club.
The player stated the other week
that he was unsure about what the future held for him at Walsall, but he
appears to be the type of character cut out for management.
Many fans would love to see O'Connor
awarded a new contract at the Bescot, where he could take on some coaching
duties. However, with finances being so tight Lee may want a player who
can play 40 games a season, rather than someone who can play 20-30 games
and do some coaching. The fact he let Martinez go when he was valuable off
the field, but needed to free some cash for new players could show why
Mart may be shown the door.
He has struggled with injuries
during 02/03, and it would be tough for the player to put a consistent
run in the first team together next season
The chance to cut his teeth at
coaching in the Conference would be an attractive prospect for
O'Connor. He says he has received interest from a number of levels,
and whatever happens during the next week or so, O'Connor will not be
short of options.
