Fitzroy is a diminutive midfielder with a sweet left foot. He competed at the World Cup in France in 1998 and was a key member of the 'Reggae Boyz ' squad along with former Saddlers team mate Paul Hall.

Walsall Career

Signed by former boss Ray Graydon to boost the promotion push in 2000/2001, 'Simmo' scored on his debut in a 3-1 victory away at Bristol City. He was in fine form before picking up an injury in the play-off semi final first leg which ruled him out for the return leg and final. He made his loan move permanent though and featured regularly at the start of last season. Fitzroy lost his place under 'Sir Ray' but was recalled in the latter stages of the season by Colin Lee.

He rejected a short term contract at the end of last season and began training with Rushden & Diamonds where Jamaican team-mates Hall and Onandi Lowe ply their trade. Due to the ITV Digital crisis however, Simpson was left without a club and came back to Bescot to play for free in the hope of earning a contract. After a string of fine performances including a match winning performance at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Walsall at last found the cash to sign Fitz and reward him for the loyalty which saw him reject Bradford to stay at Bescot.

Attributes

Fitzroy can play at left (wing) back but prefers central midfield where, strong in the tackle and with a feisty character, he usually excels. Not afraid to speak his mind, Simpson is a dead ball specialist who possesses great vision and stamina and a powerful shot.
