The FA Cup third round comes to Bescot, and with much of the talk about how Lee could use any money he gets from a cup run, the match takes on added importance. Walsall Vs Notts Forest

Walsall Vs Reading

Competition : FA Cup Round 3.

Date & Time: 4.1.03 - 3.00pm

Tickets: No chance of a sell out. Plenty left, but we recommend you get your tickets for the purple early, because you never know if it will sell out.

Directions (Road): You cannot miss the stadium if you travel along the M6. It is just off Junction 9, then the A461 road leads you round to the Stadium. It is well signposted from the Motorway. You can Leave at Junction 10, it takes longer but it is also sign posted. It is a 20 minute walk from the town center, and it is also served by its own Station "Bescot Stadium Station". If you want to get the bus, the 405 runs every 15 minutes from the Bradford Place bus station. (Guide to Bescot)

Walsall News: Hay is still out and is not expected to recover in time. With Pollet and Ainsworth unavailable it means Carbon and Corica should come back in to the starting XI. Lee will want the cash generated from a cup run, and he has said he values competition highly.

News: Forster, Murty, Williams, Hughes and Henderson are all giving Pardew selection problems. Forster is certainly out, while the others are touch and go.  Pardew has the option of sticking with his 4-5-1 or fitting Butler and Cureton in to a 4-4-2.

Walsall

one2watch: Darren Wrack seems to in competition with Junior for this spot in the preview this season. Wracky is certainly the hottest Saddlers player around at the moment and he seems to popping up everywhere on the field. Reliable, hard working, clinical in front of goal, these are all words we would not have used to describe Darren earlier on in the season, how he is proving all his doubters wrong at the moment.

Reading

one2watch: After an unsuccessful spell at Fulham Marcus Hahnemann moved to the Bescot in the summer for a trial, the two parties were unable to come to an agreement, and Marcus must have known that it was going to be tough to dislodge player of the season Jim Walker from between the sticks. He moved on Reading where he has become a firm favourite with the fans, and is playing an important part in their play off push.

Last Time Walsall

0-2

31/8/02 - Nationwide League Division 1

The Verdict: We all believe the Saddlers have come a long way since that defeat in late August. The home form has improved and the side have begun to play with confidence, something they lacked early on in the season. The point at Forest will have boosted morale, and a win against Reading who are one of this seasons surprise packages will do team spirit no harm. Reading and Pardrew are having the same kind of impact Milwall had last season and look to the have the resources to establish themselves as a force in the first division.  The Saddlers will have to be on their game and not produce the same kind of sloppy performance they produced on Boxing day if they are to progress.   With Reading not completing their game on new years day, you may say they might have the edge, but they have only just come of the back of 4 games without a win and this one could well go to a replay.

PREDICTION: Saddlers 2-2 Reading.
