Martinez has been on trial with the Saddlers over the last few weeks and appeared in a couple of pre-season matches where he did enough to impress boss Colin Lee.

However, Martinez was in dispute with his previous club Motherwell, who are experiencing financial difficulties, and couldn't play competively for the Saddlers.

Thankfully, the situation seems to have been sorted out and Martinez will stay at the Bescot on a non-contract basis, meaning he can play in league and cup matches for the Saddlers.

His signing should help bolster the midfield, which is looking a little lightweight without Martin O'Connor. The ex-Wigan man could earn a longer deal with the Saddlers if all goes well.

Speaking to the Official Walsall FC Site, Lee said: "We get to have an extended look at him, see how he fits in. It is a good situation for us."

Martinez should be in the Walsall squad that will travel to the Molineux to take on the Wolves on Wednesday evening.
