‘ All Aboard the Coventry Rugby Academy Special!’

Coventry Rugby Supporters' Club, CRSC, are supporting the Coventry Rugby Academy in their Scottish Rugby trip, next Saturday and Sunday, 26th and 27th April. ( This was announced to CRSC members last week).
Coventry Rugby Supporters’ Club, CRSC, are delighted to announce a major donation, £5000, to Coventry Rugby Academy. The donation will be a major boost to offset the costs of the Under 17s as they undertake a whistle-stop tour to Edinburgh for a Scottish Rugby Union organised Under 17s Festival .Travelling by rail on Saturday 26th April, a one night stop at Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate, then games on the Sunday. These games are:
Playing Schedule – Sunday 27th April
- 12:00 (Outdoor): Glasgow Warriors v Newcastle Falcons
- 12:00 (Indoor): Edinburgh Rugby v Coventry
- 13:00 (Outdoor): Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh Rugby
- 13:00 (Indoor): Newcastle Falcons v Coventry
- 14:00 (Outdoor): Edinburgh Rugby v Newcastle Falcons
- 14:00 (Indoor): Coventry v Glasgow Warriors
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the players, both from a playing perspective and as a key development experience. The travel, overnight stay, and requirement to perform in this setting will be valuable in their progression. This is also the beginning of a reciprocal relationship with the SRU, with plans for a return fixture during pre-season. It represents an excellent end-of-season experience for the boys and reinforces our commitment to providing growth experiences and investing in their development.”
CRSC Chair, Paul Ingleston, voiced the thoughts of CRSC:
“ This is our major financial commitment for 2025. By making this donation, myself and my fellow CRSC Committee members, hope this will reinforce our desire for Youth Rugby, and Coventry Rugby Academy in particular, will continue to progress and grow. From a standing start, the Academy continues to grow and flourish. Myself, and I hope all our CRSC members and others in the Coventry Rugby family , will realise and concur that producing our own, locally produced players , is the only way to survive and go forward in this great game of ours.”

BTW, do we know how the Academy sides got on last week?
I feel this kind of info is sadly lacking from the club, as many supporters will want to see how the future players are faring.

I believe that the u17s made light work of defeating Ealing, who I understand have a pretty decent academy set up themselves.
Shame the club don't make more of it.

I assume the club has reasons for its lack of candour ref. injuries, and I can kind of accept that reasoning. However, publicity for the Academy kids costs nowt, and can only raise their profile.

I agree Kimbo, it shouldn't. Just to cap off a disappointing day, Cov Academy U16's lost both of their games today against Newcastle Falcons Academy. No scores given but I am told they played well.

The results of Coventry U17s Academy tour to Scotland , the results from today, in Edinburgh were:
Coventry 22-12 Edinburgh
Coventry 7-0 Newcastle
Coventry 19-20 Glasgow
Think we can say it's been a success and the pathway continues. Well done to everyone involved, Matt Jones, his Academy coaches and all involved in organising this tour.
The party are now making their way back, probably very tired, but hopefully happy.
Well done you youngsters in carrying forward the name of Coventry RFC. I'm sure that it was a great experience for you all.

Just had an update that the Falcons result was a 0-7 reverse in favour of the Premiership Academy. Still good to see the Cov lads putting in a good effort.

It was a loss, 7-0 to Falcons. In this age of communication, modern day technology, sometimes it's perhaps easier to be there!
Just to re-iterate, a loss it was.
