SAINTS ALIVE! THERE'S BEEN A TIGER ALERT ISSUED!! This morning Premiership Rugby released the groups for this year's competition, based on a regional basis. Here are the groupings:
Pool One - Caldy, Doncaster Knights, Newcastle Falcons, Sale Sharks
Pool Two - Coventry, Leicester Tigers, Nottingham Rugby, Northampton Saints
Pool Three - Ealing Trailfinders, Harlequins, London Scottish, Saracens
Pool Four - Ampthill, Bath, Bedford Blues, Bristol Bears
Pool Five - Cornish Pirates, Exeter Chiefs, Gloucester, Hartpury
There you have it. The fixtures will take place during the Autumn Internationals and 6 Nations windows in November and February.
Cov's first fixture is a Friday night at Nottingham on 1.11.2024.
Groups one and two, the worst-kept secrets ever, although I don't know why both Cov and Rugby have been included 😉.
The other three were always going to be slightly more difficult, although I guess Group three probably selects itself also in hindsight.
Without dwelling on the significant elephant in the room ommissions, this is a huge improvement on last season's very poor set-up.

Thanks Kimbo. Have managed to capture that rogue comma and , hopefully, now befitting English , or grammar, from an old Coventry educational establishment!
Gazbert Worked out nicely for me - my brother and his kids are Tigers fans. Going to be a couple of family fun days for us....
Chap across the road from me is a Tigers fan (surrounded by the b*99ers here in Hinckley) but was a Cov fan, and a ballboy at CR back in the fifties.
Might suggest a trip to Welford Road with him and his son. Bit of the old banter to be had there!

We are based in Hinckley too (work wise).
Plenty of banter here.
My brother and I are both from Bedworth but got an interest in Rugby later in life so by that point, I'd been to university in Coventry and spent most of my time there so followed them and my brother had married a girl from (Wait for it!!) Hinckley, moved there and became a Tigers fan.
covkid1953 Pools one, four and five look easier than the rest.
Pools two and three look like death pools.
...
Doesn't that depend more on what sort of teams clubs put out?
Exactly.
It totally depends on whether the Prem sides enter the spirit of the thing (a dumbed down fill-in Cup), or decide that a bit more silverware (or whatever it is) is worth loading their teams for.
After our showing last season, after the blip against Nottm, I'm guessing Northampton and Leicester won't exactly be stripped down.
I guess different Prem teams will have their own strategies as to what they want out of the Cup - player development and success wise.
Certainly it’s a better layout, but It is a real shame two clubs have been left in the @#$%& this season, and 4 more teams shafted in 25/26. Champ clubs not so united in their collective ideals it seems. Dog eat dog I suppose.

‘Chinnor RFC and @camrufc are very pleased to announce their participation in the Not The Premiership Cup. In response to being excluded from this season's Premiership Cup the two exiled clubs will play for a trophy between themselves.’

Made me smile

Are we sure Chinnor and Cambridge have achieved the minimum standards to enter the Not The Premiership Cup?
I can’t find the (actual) Premiership Cup fixtures on BBC Rugby site or the club’s site… 🤔 in fact, I can’t find a fixture list at all on the Coventry RFC website! Is there one?

Thank you Paul - that works, although only if I turn my phone to landscape - in portrait, I only get previous matches - the Fixtures tab only appears in landscape 🤷🏼♂️ but thanks for the tip 👍

The Cov site has always been rather clunky, but not as clunky as the Sportnetwork sites
