Ready, steady - here we go!

So here we go then.  Less than a week, now, until the start of the pre-season games with the first one against Merthyr on Saturday 12th, followed by Moseley a week later, and finally Bath at Broadstreet, Bath having expressed their wish that the match not be played on an artificial surface.

At this point, I think the supporters club are planning to run a shuttle between BPA and Broadstreet, so anyone who would / could or wants to take advantage of that should get in touch with Paul Ingleston asap to book, before the bus gets filled up, assuming it’s still running and isn’t already full.   I’m sure Paul will update us, but for £8 return it seems like a good plan for anyone who doesn’t drive and lives on the BPA side of town.

We’ve a good few new signings this year, but we’ve also retained a lot of our forwards, so we’ll be looking for some continuity there, so it’s in the backs where we need the players to find their feet and gel pretty quickly, with the full season kicking off a couple of weeks after Bath with a home game against Bedford which I understand *may* be on Friday night.  Watch for further communications from the club on that one.

I should mention that on 15th September, there is a special event scheduled by the supporters club>  I’m not sure if it’s out in the public domain yet, but you might want to keep your eyes and ears open about that.  I think it will be good.

Am I looking forward to the season?  I am, actually.  It’s another chance for us to prove we’re capable of not only holding our own at Championship level, but building and honing our squad to prove worthy of challenging at the top of the table in a couple of seasons and chasing that dream of premiership status.

Can we do it?  Who knows.  *Could* we do it?  Well, that’s another question, and with a limited budget, our coaches have really had to cut this season’s coat to fit the cloth we have.  That said, I’m excited for the season to start.  A win, any kind of win, against Bedford at home will stand us in good stead and give our boys a good confidence boost, so get down there pre-season and let’s show the players what they’ve been missing elsewhere and how the Coventry supporters really do make a difference.

Yes I am really looking forward to seeing the new players and how the team performs on Saturday. Still a little worried about the experience we have lost and we seem a bit light in some positions. But when you see the players recruited by the other teams in the championship it seems very similar.Apart from money bags Ealing who are obviously strong favourites to win the league. It would be great if we could start with a win against Bedford can't wait to hear the roar when the team approach the stand. Roll on Saturday cheers Colin.
