While contemplating an update to keep this site going, yet again, it suddenly occurred to me that I had something tucked away in the files that Paul Ingleston had sent me many, many months ago, and so... problem solved. OK, it's a little out of date now, and some of the references may seem a little out of place, but that's entirely my fault for being so forgetful. Perhaps it's ME that's 'Losing my Mind'? Thanks Paul - Steve
I HAVE been following/supporting Cov since, I believe, the early 80s, on and off. Mostly 'on'. I had my flirtation with the Sky Blues in the seventies, then, due to family links, began following Birmingham City (that’s my version of coming out!) until I discovered Coventry Rugby, obviously missing the 'glory years'. I suppose serious 'Cov watching' started in the early nineties, just in time for the 'Eves Revolution'. That was a great time; I am sure many of you can remember the excitement of those times: Richmond, Newcastle and the crushing disappointment at Sunbury?
Those were heady days.
It’s all been an up and down experience since. Near liquidation, fighting back , the National One success secured at Caldy and a successful Greene King IPA Championship consolidation within the Rowland Winter years.
Recently 'Mr Photo', aka John Coles, has been releasing a series of photos on Twitter entitled, Coventry Rugby Memories, and excellent they have, and I hope will continue to be, a snapshot of Coventry Rugby at the time.
What has been concerning me is that I cannot remember some of the players featured. I was at nearly all of these games, but I just cannot identify some of the players shown.
A few are instantly recognisable, Will Hurrell, Matt Jones, Cliff Hodgson, Brett Daynes, Scott Morgan and Lewis Ludlam (on loan). But other players no, cannot. Is it because Cov were not particularly pulling up trees at the time?
Whilst it’s not a Liza Minnelli, 'Losing My Mind' situation, a Pet Shop Boys composition by the way, it does worry me a little. For instance , I can remember all of the players who featured regularly during the Eves campaigns, and that was over 25 year ago.
Not being able to remember some of these players doesn’t, for me, negate their service to the Blue and White cause, it is just a issue for me to get to grips with.
Perhaps during this current fallow period, awaiting squad ins and outs, Season Ticket announcements and the wait for the confirmed league composition, John will continue putting some more of these photos out. I hope so.
Now, if you will excuse me , I have my next psychoanalysis session. If I can remember the time…..!
Paul

Ha ha, yes, I used to call it occasionally in the forlorn hope of hearing something, anything about the club.
How did it go? "Just especially for you!" (?). Lol.
