Coventry 54 - 14 Loughborough Students

Eight tries to CRFC

An impressive start to the season as Coventry beat Loughborough Students by 54 points to 14.

An attendance of just under 1000 saw Cov wrap up the bonus point way before half-time, and go on to pile up eight tries against Loughborough.

It was hard to fault any aspect of the team's performance  with aggressive scrummaging, accurate line-outs, precise kicking, and very impressive handling skills given the damp conditions.  There may be tougher tests to come, but Loughborough deserve respect for stepping up in the second-half and playing some pretty decent rugby of their own.

Given the starting XV were all new to the squad this season, it's clear to see that there has been some hard work taking place on the training ground over the summer.  Roland Winter obviously doesn't want anyone to get ahead of themselves, but as a supporter it's hard not to be excited by the potential of this side and the depth of the squad we've accumulated.  If nothing else, we're in for some expansive rugby!
