Coventry came to life just in time to see off a resilient Hull Ionians side as they returned to winning ways with a hard-fought National League One victory.

Behind from the tenth minute and chasing the game until midway through the third quarter, Cov went ahead for the first time with their bonus-point fourth try after 56 minutes and held on to end an emotional week in some style.

Playing against a strong wind, Cov spent the first ten minutes under pressure deep in their own half and, despite some excellent defence, eventually conceded a try to Steve Johnson, James Ferguson converting.

Cov were finding it hard to get out of their own half and, with Andy Brown in the sin bin, they gifted the visitors a second try when a long pass was intercepted by Joe Allott who raced clear from 40 metres, leaving Ferguson a simple conversion for 14-0 after 20 minutes.

The home side survived a further spell of pressure and, back to strength, they grabbed a foothold in the game when George Oliver burst through the middle and found Scott Hamilton in support to create a maiden try for George Worth.

Does any one know why the yellow cards were given? I did not see why they were given although i did not have a clear view for Andy Brown's yellow. Devlin went through the middle of the ruck and why he was penalised is a complete mystery, well to me any way.

Agree Bono, thought Devlin's card was harsh. His strength and power forced him through the middle of the ruck, can only think it was for going of his feet, a penalty perhaps, but yellow, not for me.
Didn't get a good view of Andy Browns yellow.
By the way, my m.o.m. would have been Danny Wright, closely followed by Sam Pailor. Good to see Callum back in the fold,thought his defence was excellent.
