Coventry continued their excellent start to the National League One season with a seven-try win and maximum points on Loughborough's new all-weather pitch.

Students had no real answer to the power of the Coventry pack who scored three tries from line-out drives and two from scrum pushovers,and for the second week in a row the visitors had their four-try bonus point in the bag by half-time.

Cov got off to a flying start, twice kicking penalties into the corner and driving over from the line-out for hooker Matt Price to touchdown with Matt Jones converting both for a 14-0 lead in just eight minutes.

Jones added a penalty on 17 minute, and with Loughborough's scrum in tatters, Wayne Evans pounced on a loose ball to grab Cov's third try when they shoved the opposition eight over the line on their own put-on, Jones converting.

Students hit back on 33 minutes with an unconverted Will Allman try from a line-out drive, but Cov's forwards had the final word of the half when Tom Preece touched down a pushover scrum to secure try bonus point.

Injuries to Tom Poole and Preece disrupted Cov's progress after the break, but they went further ahead on 52 minutes with another scrum pushover touched down by George Oliver and converted by Jones.

I agree with Johns report. :-)

I think the pattern and style of play mirrored last weeks game, ableit an even more forward orientated game, which is proving a very successfull tactic. And why not, we were dominating LS in the forwards and particularly in the scrum, and as has been said previously, if you can keep your own set forward position and dominate over the oponents, then this will set a good base for the backs to run off.

I don't think any one player stood out, it was a good team effort, and to be honest I don't think we have got out of first gear in either game yet. We have been able to win by employing the right tactics whilst not playing a full 70 or 80 minutes worth of outstanding rugby. But when we do that team will get hammered.

The injury count over the last 2 games is getting a bit worrying, but with Loti and Wright still to come into the match day squad, I think we will be fine in the forwards. But we do seem to be getting a bit short in the backs. lets hope weightman and Ticknell are both fit soon.
