Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce the signing of a new player, centre Sam Smith. Sam a hard running and tackling centre is aged 23, was born in Derby and attended Derby Grammar School.
He then went on to attend Hartpury College like so many of our existing squad, and after a season at Leicester Lions has been playing for Burton, where he appeared in the Staffs County final.
Pre-season Sam was one of a number of trialists and following his successful appearance in pre-season games has now signed for Coventry Rugby.
Sam has been most impressed with the set up at Coventry Rugby and looks forward to assisting the club in its march towards promotion.
Looks like we will need him with the backs injures mounting up!
Hough, Rundle, Cliffie, Ticknell, Weightman, and Canning all injured and only 1 game in!
I guess the good news is that we still have Mcburnie, who is fit, and ready to come back in, and now this new guy. Although we are now out of wingers I think.. But I wouldn't be too upset if Caolan was selected there (even though hes not a winger) as he seems to be quite pacey.
Just wondering if Harrison is signed yet, as we do still need a 2nd Scrum half and he put in a good shift on Saturday, playing out of position, on both wings!
I suspect we will see Cliffie and Canning back this week and of course Macburnie. I'm still not convinced that Matt Jones' wrist is ok. He took a knock on Saturday, after which he was careful how he tackled.
we are going to need some speed on the 3g pitch-so prefer to see whoever it was who came on last saturday at f/b if the player coach isnt fit, rather than cliffie.
